KATARIINA KORSIMAA

Katariina Korsimaa (she/they) is a dancer from Helsinki, Finland. She graduated with a Fist Class Honours in Dance Performance from Middlesex University in 2023. She recently performed in Manafiesta with dobladanza at Resolution Festival 2024. Performance experiences include performing in HM Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant with Boy Blue, ‘The Birth’ by Leroy Dias Dos Santos representing Middlesex University at Move It 2022 and participating in the making of Yassmin Foster’s documentary, commissioned by BBC and One Dance UK, about the life of Namron OBE. Before relocating to London in 2020, she performed in The Finnish Music Awards as a backup dancer for Antti Tuisku, one of the most popular and well-known artists in Finland. Apart from dancing on stage, Katariina has been part of dance on screen performances including ‘HUM HUM HUM’ by Meeri Lempiäinen and ’In Good Company’ by Louise Kelsey, which were both created and recorded during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. In her final year of university studies, Katariina continued to work with Boy Blue by doing her placement with them. Katariina specialised in classical ballet and modern dance whilst complementing her studies by learning street dance and dance circus at Helsingin Tanssiopisto (Helsinki Dance Institute). After completing her training in the Advanced Studies in the Arts programme, Katariina continued her training at Tanssivintti Dance Studio’s Intensive Dance Studies scheme (similar to a foundation year in the UK). Katariina continues to seek out new experiences and strives to grow as an artist by attending workshops and volunteering, past experiences being Anna Watkins, Boy Blue, Hofesh Schechter, Far From The Norm, Jasmin Vardimon and more.
